How to Make a Voltage Booster for Small Electronics
Have you ever wanted to power small electronic devices with a higher voltage than what is provided by your standard batteries or power source? If so, you may need a voltage booster. In this article, we will show you how to make a simple voltage booster that can help you power your small electronics efficiently.
Materials Needed:
- 9V Battery
- 2N3904 Transistor
- 10K Resistor
- 470 Ohm Resistor
- 1uF Ceramic Capacitor
- 0.1uF Ceramic Capacitor
- Diode – 1N4001
- Ferrite Bead
- 22uH Inductor
- Breadboard
- Jumper Wires
Instructions:
1. Start by arranging the components on the breadboard as shown in the diagram below:

2. Connect the positive terminal of the 9V battery to the collector of the 2N3904 transistor.
3. Connect the emitter of the transistor to the ground and the base of the transistor to the 10K resistor, which is then connected to the positive terminal of the battery.
4. Connect the 470 Ohm resistor in series with the base of the transistor and connect a 1uF ceramic capacitor in parallel.
5. Connect the diode in reverse bias across the transistor’s collector and emitter and add a 0.1uF ceramic capacitor in parallel with the diode.
6. Connect the ferrite bead and the 22uH inductor in series with the load (small electronic device) to boost the voltage.
7. Test the voltage booster by connecting a small electronic device to the output and see if it powers up effectively.
By following these steps, you can create a voltage booster for small electronics that can help you power your devices efficiently. Remember to double-check the connections and components to ensure everything is in place before testing the booster.
Conclusion:
Creating a voltage booster for small electronics can be a fun and rewarding DIY project. With the right components and careful assembly, you can effectively boost the voltage to power your small electronic devices with ease. Remember to exercise caution and follow safety guidelines when working with electronics.
